Reflect 2008 – Entry Rules
You can enter up to ten photographs in as many categories as you want. Take a look at our list of categories and see which one best suits your photo and then upload it or them here or send it to: - Michelle Blow, Reflect Awards, Hilary Florek PR Limited, 188 Portland Road, Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1DJ along with completed entry form.

The competition will be called the Reflect Awards and will seek out photographic images of excellence from entrants of all ages anywhere in the United Kingdom.
Entries from entrants can be about any aspect of the Tyne under the 4 categories listed. It must be submitted by 5.00 pm on Friday 29 August 2008, together with the official application/permission form duly completed. Late entries will not be accepted.
The photography must be taken by the person submitting the entry. Photographs will not be returned. No expenses incurred in taking or submitting photographs will be met by The Port of Tyne, this is the sole responsibility of the entrant.
We can not return any entries or acknowledge receipt of images.
If you are under 16 you must obtain permission from your parent/guardian before entering.
Entries must not have been previously published.
All hard copy images sent to us must be clearly marked on the reverse with the entrants name, address, contact telephone number, age and which category it is to be submitted under.
Pictures must be taken during 2008 and not before. And they must be between the mouth of the river Tyne and Wylam, including both banks of the river.
By entering the competition, you agree that if you are a winner or runner up, you permit the Port of Tyne to use your photograph in public displays. The Port of Tyne may also use the entry on the internet, television and in print to promote the competition (in newspapers and magazines for example) and share them, with their partners and commercial supporters of this competition.
The Port of Tyne will credit the photograph to you. No financial payment will be offered by the Port of Tyne if your photograph is used for any purpose listed above.
There will be 4 categories for the competition, Historic Tyne, Artistic Tyne, Wildlife Tyne, Maritime Tyne.
The judges will select, in their opinion, the best entry in each category. The judge’s decision is final.
These 4 winners will receive £500.00 cash. Additional special prizes will be announced on the night of the winner’s reception.
The judging panel will consist of 4 high profile people in the North East region.
Please note all images that are entered must not be edited apart from the brightness/contrast and colour saturation. Photoshop or equivalent software packages are not allowed to be used to airbrush images or remove certain items in the photograph that the taker does not want to appear. All submitted images MUST be 800 pixels wide and below 1mg. Any photos that are required for print will be requested at 210x297mm at 300dpi.
A full list of the prize winners will appear on the Port of Tyne Website and in the Journal at a date to be decided.
Port of Tyne reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage.
Entrants should ensure that, where relevant, they obtain consent for the photograph from any people featured.
An entry form must be completed for each image entered into the Reflect 2008 Awards.
